OFFICIAL/ Real Madrid wastes no time, chooses new coach

Xabi Alonso is no longer Real Madrid coach. The club has decided to dismiss the Basque coach after just seven months on the bench.

The decision comes after negative results in the league and the defeat in the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona. Although it was previously reported that the management were not considering changes, the situation changed immediately after the latest defeat.

The separation between the parties has been formalized by mutual agreement. Alvaro Arbeloa has been appointed in Alonso's place. The former Real right-back previously managed the youth team.

He is considered a medium-term project for the Madrid club. Real Madrid have thanked Alonso and his staff for the work done.
