Just a few months ago, an investment was completed to rehabilitate the internal road network in the villages of the Buçimas administrative unit. One of the areas that benefited was the village of Rrëmenj, where two road segments connecting the neighborhoods were reconstructed, initially bringing relief to the residents.

But not long after the completion of the works, serious damage has begun to appear on some parts of these roads. According to residents, the situation has deteriorated significantly after the first rains, endangering not only the infrastructure, but also daily safety.

"The road was built a year ago. When the rains started, it gradually got damaged little by little. It is dangerous, especially for children, because they ride bicycles. They came to see it when the first rains came, they said they would do it, but so far nothing has been done. This road had not been touched at all for over 30 years. We were not happy with it, even though the road was built. It is better to intervene as soon as possible, because the more time passes, the more it is damaged by cars," says a resident.
Residents say that the problems are numerous, ranging from the poor quality of the works to the lack of protective elements in the most dangerous areas.

"The road has been built for almost a year. It is very dangerous; we are anxious to get the car out and anxious to get it into the house. There is an intersection here and a strong wall with bars was needed. They did it with no quality at all. We are asking for intervention, since this is a village where all the cars pass," the residents say.
Meanwhile, other residents blame the works, claiming that the lack of a stable foundation is causing the road to deteriorate rapidly.

"The road has been built for 8 months, but they laid the foundation on straw. If you see it, that other wall will fall too. They have filled their pockets. We are taking risks. My house is behind the river and it is filled with mud. No one cares about this work. We have nothing to complain about anymore. If you come here for dinner, you can find 20 cars, because we can't fit them in the house," they say.
Residents of Rrëmenj demand immediate intervention from responsible institutions to prevent further deterioration of the situation and the possible isolation of the neighborhoods. They emphasize that a long-awaited investment should not end up in a new problem for the community. /CNA
