The new population that emerged from the data of the 2023 census showed that the large cities of the North of the country, Shkodra and Kukësi had the greatest increase in deaths per thousand inhabitants.

According to INSTAT data, 21,286 deaths occurred in the entire country in 2023 or 9 deaths per thousand inhabitants with population data of 2.4 million inhabitants from the census.

In 2023, 5345 people lost their lives in the District of Tirana. According to the population data of the census, deaths per 1000 inhabitants in the crosses were 7 with an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the 2011 census.
