Martial Arts Academy inaugurated in Bilisht, a new opportunity for young people

The city of Bilisht now has a new sports space at the service of young people. This Wednesday, the Martial Arts Academy was officially inaugurated, an initiative that aims to promote combat sports and create new opportunities for children and young people to engage in sports activities.

The opening ceremony took place at the premises of the "Andrea Balli" Children's Cultural Center, where representatives of the local government, coaches, athletes, as well as citizens of this municipality were present.

The activity was accompanied by demonstrations of Taekwondo techniques and boxing matches, which brought a special atmosphere to the audience.

This academy comes as a concrete response to the need that young people in the area have had to practice such sports, without being forced to travel to other cities.

"A golden opportunity for the city of Bilisht. The martial arts academy was opened in this city, with the permission of the mayor and the Devoll municipality. It gave this golden opportunity to its citizens, its youth, to practice martial arts such as taekwondo and boxing. We welcome everyone, even children from the age of 4 and up, to practice at the martial arts academy in Bilisht. I want to mention something else, that many young people from the city of Bilisht came to train at the academy located in Korça. For them, it was a very big surprise that the mayor and us as an academy, that we are now in their city, made it easier for them to train," said Dorian Potka, martial arts trainer.

The support of the Devoll Municipality has been key in the realization of this initiative, turning it into a concrete project in the service of the community.

"We welcome you and wish you a good start to this initiative that we have taken as a municipality through the Children's Cultural Center, to develop in our municipality a new sport that this municipality and these children who are interested in the sport of taekwondo have been missing. It is an initiative proposed by the author, but the municipality supported it and will do everything it can to support it further," declared Mayor Eduard Duro.

Sports representatives at the regional level praised the cooperation between institutions and sports actors, considering it a model to follow.

"A wonderful initiative and collaboration that opens a door for sport. We are not just opening a door for sport, but for the future of young people who will join this not so simple sport, and not only taekwondo but several types of sports. It is a collaboration that all leaders, not only local but also central, should take as an example," said Pavlina Evro, president of the Korça Regional Olympic Committee, athletic champion.

The opening of the Martial Arts Academy in Bilisht is expected to have a positive impact not only on the sports development of young people, but also on their involvement in healthy activities, away from negative phenomena.

With this initiative, Bilishti is added to the map of cities that are investing in sports and the future of the young generation, creating better conditions for the development of talents and promoting an active lifestyle. / CNA
