"Emigration, pathology of Albanian society"/ Sociologist: Impact also

Sociologist Gëzim Tushe today synthetically explained one of the well-known pathologies of Albanian society.

Invited to "Syri Tv", Tushe described emigration as the greatest scourge, which according to him, although it is no longer of biblical proportions, continues to be an ongoing process for three and a half decades.

According to the sociologist, immigration has a huge impact on social life, economic stability, demographics, and other forms of existence.

"Without a doubt, in this synthetic presentation of yours of the social problems that Albanian society has, a reality that is undeniable is evident. The health of society at these moments, for a number of reasons of a subjective, but also objective nature in most cases, without a doubt, are several causes that are bringing about these pathologies of our society, which in a certain way, have a direct impact on social life, on our economic stability, social, demographic stability and on other forms of existential stability of a society to function normally. These pathologies are very numerous.

Without a doubt, the first problem that you identified and that is a major social wound for society, is the problem of emigration and departures from Albania. So, this process has been going on for three and a half decades, because it was initially a large-scale emigration, as you know, after communism fell and for 100 reasons of that closed, autocratic system, with class warfare, with biological racism, ideological racism, all other forms, it was a huge explosion and the departure of people in the early '90s was of biblical proportions.

Many people left Albania, especially people who had suffered from that regime, from that system, but also young people, poor people, for many other problems, who left Albania in the hope that the magnet of the West, the pull towards the West, would create the possible conditions for more freedom, for more equality, for more prosperity. The problem is that, if this first emigration, this bursting of this nationalist balloon of this country closed with barbed wire, where leaving it was considered national treason, has continued in different forms. However, even though it is not on such, let's say, biblical proportions, since I used this metaphor, it is uninterrupted, it is continuous and I think that in this matter there are two factors that continue to determine this movement of people from Albania", - said Tushe./CNA
