At the Hygeia Hospital, for the first time in Albania, the rare and extremely complicated case of a patient with Tumor of the Nasal Cavity, with involvement of the brain membrane, was successfully treated, for the first time in Albania.

The patient diagnosed with Tumor of the Nasal cavity, but who also had an interest (touch) of the brain membrane, this very rare case, was taken over to be treated by the surgeon of excellence in the field of ENT pathologies, Dr. Alfred Aga, treatment which would be performed by means of endoscopic surgery, i.e. everything would be done through the nose.

Despite the complexity and difficulty of the intervention, everything turned out to be a complete success, thanks to the professionalism and experience of Dr. Alfred Aga and the team of doctors and nurses in the room.

Accordingly, it was possible to remove the entire tumor mass in the nasal cavity together with the cranial base (the part that separates the brain from the nose) with the brain membrane as well as a part of the olfactory nerve, since this nerve was also the origin of the disease. , this with the sole purpose of avoiding and preventing the return of the disease.

Afterwards, the doctor also performed a reconstruction of the entire area where the tumor mass was removed using materials taken from the patient's own body.
