Brataj: The number of infections has increased due to Omicron variants

The Head of Medical Emergency, Skënder Brataj stated that the recent increase in the number of cases with COVID has been influenced by the new variants of Omicron, BA4 and BA5.

In an interview for "Euronews Albania", Brataj said that most of the infected are asymptomatic.

"Of course the numbers are the official ones, relatively true, since the Omicorn variants have increased the cases. BA4 and BA5 are more frequent in their spread. The positive is the fact that most of them are asymptomatic, or in very mild forms. Fortunately, the virulence of the virus has decreased and is not a problem for the health sector, but also for the citizens", he emphasized.

Across the country, there are 6,980 active citizens with COVID-19. Currently, 21 patients are receiving treatment at the COVID-3 hospital./euronews
