Pogradec, the capital of Balkan cinema / The 16th edition of the Balkan Film and Culinary Festival opens

In one of the most inspiring cities in Albania, where the colors of nature meet the blue of the lake, Pogradec has become a space for dialogue between art and landscape. “Lin in Aqua” has brought for the second consecutive year an international exhibition of watercolors, bringing together in a single gallery 15 artists from different countries of the world.
Through the delicate technique of watercolor, artists have brought their interpretations of nature, light, and the emotions conveyed by the landscape. From Ukraine, Lithuania, Spain, Italy, and beyond, creators have chosen Pogradec as a source of inspiration, where water, the lake, and the atmosphere of the city serve as the main elements of their works.

The exhibition “Lin in Aqua”, which takes its name from one of the natural pearls of the area, the village of Lin, is not only a presentation of artistic works, but also an opportunity to bring to Albania the experience and tradition of the most important international events of watercolor art. For several days, Pogradec has become a meeting point of different artists, cultures and histories, where the beauty of nature and human emotions are conveyed through colors.
"This exhibition is the second exhibition organized in Pogradec, it is called 'Lin in Aqua' and we named it after one of the beauties of Pogradec, Lin. It is a very interesting exhibition, which comes in continuation of many collaborations with artists from all over the world. We have brought a representation that we bring every year. This year we have 15 artists from all over the world. Among them are also organizers of the largest watercolor art events in the world, in Italy. The artists participating here are of a rare quality. The reason we did Pogradec is because it is water, and wherever you go, there is water. Watercolors are dependent on water, on the availability and on the beauty of Pogradec. Everyone is amazed. Most have never been to Albania. We have artists from Ukraine, Lithuania, Spain, Italy and other countries. It is a very interesting mix ," says organizer Armand Xhika.
Beyond exhibiting their works, the participating artists will also be part of a well-known tradition in the art world: live painting in the gallery's premises, creating direct communication with the public.

"Our goal as organizers has been, given our many years of experience as artists, participants and organizers outside Albania, to bring this experience here and offer the public this type of activity, this level. In addition to professional connections, friendly ties are also developed with artists, who want to get to know the culture and tradition of the countries they visit," said organizer Foti Kllogjeri.
At the center of the works is the landscape, interpreted through the personal perspective of each artist. Colors, light, and nature take on different forms depending on the experience and sensitivity of the creator.
"The motif is a simple motif, landscape, which is a kind of naturalism, but to some extent interpreted. It is a naturalism that stems from the artist's desire to change it, to add or remove elements and bring it to his own way," adds Kllogjeri.
For Ukrainian painter Victoria Grigorieva, participating in this exhibition is a special experience, not only because of the art, but also for the emotion conveyed by a new place and an atmosphere of peace.
"This is a wonderful place, a wonderful exhibition, and I am very happy and grateful to the organizers who invited me to this festival. There is a lot of joy, a lot of art, and we talk, smile, paint together and see this beautiful nature. It is my first time in Pogradec and I am very impressed by this place," says Grigorieva.
Her latest painting is inspired by light, the sea, and the need for calm, a strong message coming from an artist living the reality of the war in Ukraine.
"I love the coast and I like to see the sun shine and its rise. This is a part of my soul, my peace. As you know, we have a war now and we need to have some peace within ourselves and put it on paper to feel better. After seeing this wonderful place, I think I will return ," she adds.
The "Lin in Aqua" exhibition will remain open to the public until July 12, while artistic activities will continue with live works by the creators, turning Pogradec for several days into a meeting point for international watercolor art. /CNA
