Korça welcomed the Kosovo Philharmonic Orchestra for the first time in a special artistic concert, which brought to the stage not only classical and contemporary Albanian music, but also strong emotions of cultural unity between Albania and Kosovo. At the Andon Zako Çajupi Theater, the Korça audience attended an evening filled with performances by Albanian and Kosovar composers, under the direction of maestro Baki Jashari and with the renowned violinist Sihana Badivuku as soloist.
The artistic program included works by Giuseppe Verdi, Rexho Mulliq, Fahri Beqiri, Hajrulla Syla and Valton Beqiri, while a very emotional moment was the interpretation of the Korça Serenade in an orchestral version performed by Gridi Kraja. The conductor of the concert, Baki Jashari, said that coming to Korça was a special emotion not only for him, but for all the artists of the Kosovo Philharmonic, as most of them were visiting the city for the first time.
"You see, most of the members of the Kosovo Philharmonic who were here tonight are in Korça for the first time. I am also in Korça for the first time. I was very excited to visit this magnificent, historical city, as we all know. And together with the others I shared an emotion of pride that we are here," said Jashari.
Jashari said that the artists had heard about Korça's cultural tradition and the city's art-loving public, which, according to him, created the first emotions before the concert.
"We have heard that of course tradition has taken its toll, that even today in Korça there is a tradition of regularly accompanying musical, theatrical events and so on. Even when we left Pristina we had a little stress, because we knew that we were coming to a cultural city, a city that has an audience that knows how to appreciate music ," he said.
The conductor also shared his personal emotions during the trip to Korça, recalling the books and stories he had read about this city and the southeastern region of Albania.
"You know, Kosovars have always had a dream about Albania. I have read novels, various books about Korça, Pogradec, this region here. And coming by bus, we saw those wonders along the way, that wonderful nature, the lake nearby and of course we saw a little inside Korça. It was full of emotions, it brought back my childhood ," said the conductor.
He emphasized that the repertoire was built specifically for the Korça public, with a special focus on Albanian and Kosovar creativity.
"I also wanted to thank Blerta, the director of Culture, who made this concert possible. In a way, I was a bridge between the director of the Philharmonic and Blerta to make this concert happen. Today, works mainly by Albanian composers were played. These works were very significant for us and for the Korça public, because at least we can reveal our Kosovar values ??here in Korça ," said Bajraktari.
The artistic evening closed amidst long applause from the Korça audience, leaving behind not only a successful concert, but also the promise of new cultural collaborations between Korça and Pristina in the coming years. /CNA
