2025, around 430 young people sought employment/ Zmijani: Youth Guarantee aims

The “Youth Guarantee” program, implemented for three years by the National Employment Agency, has seen increased interest from young people last year. The program targets young people aged 18–29, who, after applying to the Employment Office, are contacted within a maximum period of four months for an offer of employment or inclusion in free vocational training courses.

The Director of the Labor Office in Shkodra, Rozafa Zmijani, reports that last year alone, over 429 applications from young people were registered, while more than 300 of them were contacted and received a concrete offer, either for employment or professional training.

 

" We have been applying the youth guarantee for 3 years. It is for the age group from 18-29 years old. After applying to us, the employment office must contact the job seeker within 4 months to give them a job offer or free training. We have had a high number of applications, where last year alone we had over 429 requests. Of these, we have contacted over 300 people. This does not mean that everyone has been employed, but they have received a job offer or training course ," said Zmijani.

 

The match between labor market demands, salary expectations, and the desires of young people remains challenging, however the approach has changed significantly, especially in the tourism sector, where salaries have increased and working conditions have improved.

 

" This has to do with the fact that a young person knows that within 4 months they will be contacted for a job offer and that is definitely an incentive for them to stay. Of course, matching the market, the salary, and their desires is difficult. But the approach has changed, especially in the tourism sector. Salaries are higher and conditions are better ," said the director.

 

The "Youth Guarantee" program is considered one of the most important instruments for integrating young people into the labor market and curbing emigration, by offering concrete employment alternatives and professional development at the local level./CNA
