"Kadare in verses"/ Students honor the 90th anniversary of the great

The Digital Art Gallery in Korça hosted the cultural activity “Kadare among verses”, organized on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of the great writer Ismail Kadare. The activity, organized by the “Sevasti Qiriazi” school, brought a contemporary approach to Albanian literature, combining digital art, technology and student creativity. Part of it were students of the school, who through various artistic projects brought images, verses and interpretations of Kadare’s work.

In the spotlight was the creativity of 13-year-old Deon Gjoka from Korça, who made a documentary dedicated to Ismail Kadare, a digital avatar that "speaks" to the public, as well as a song inspired by the writer's works.

"Today I made a documentary about Ismail Kadare, his talking avatar, and I also made a song. It was a little difficult because it was a little complicated, but I believe that everything is difficult. Before, I knew him a little, because I had heard about him, but I didn't know him deeply. Now that I worked with his works, I know him better. I believe that children today read, but not as much as they did before, because now they have phones and I think they should read more," said the student.

Through this activity, students became more closely acquainted with the figure of Kadare, not only as an author of teaching programs, but as a figure who has represented the cultural and spiritual identity of Albanians in the international arena. Teachers emphasize that such activities are necessary to make children more connected to books and literature.

"Children only know Kadare through books that are in school textbooks, but by organizing such activities, I think that more than ever we should give them the message that they should recognize Kadare as a genius of Albanian literature. He was the greatest writer of Albanian literature, who put us on the artistic and spiritual map of Europe. Through these activities, children become more sensitive, more empathetic, and such activities should be organized even more", said Albanian language teacher, Albana Panolli.

The organizers of the event believe that using technology and digital art in the service of literature is an effective way to bring the younger generation closer to books and to encourage creativity. The students had the opportunity to express themselves freely, to interpret Kadare's work from their own perspective and to bring it closer to today's reality.

"Kadare in Verses" thus became an educational and cultural activity, which not only honors the figure of the great writer, but also proves that Ismail Kadare's work continues to inspire younger generations, remaining current and alive even in modern times. /CNA
