From student idea to agrotourism/ Jetmir, only 24 years old, is reviving the

From a student idea to a business that is growing every day today, this is the story of Jetmir from the village of Melgushë who chose to build his future in his hometown. Inspired by a university professor and supported by his family, he took his first steps towards agritourism in a difficult time, in 2021, at just 20 years old. Where there once were fruit trees and a family cheese factory, today an agritourism operates that embodies work, perseverance and love for the land

"I had just finished high school and started university. A professor of mine was pushing me towards Agro-tourism. The more he talked, the more I became obsessed with this idea. I also explained this desire to my father and that's how Agrotourism started for us. Previously, there was land with fruits here. We also had a cheese factory that my father ran, it was a main factor because it helped us. In 2021, it was a difficult time and we started this Agrotourism. At that time, I was 20 years old, I wasn't very familiar with business and it was difficult. Even now it remains difficult because it is something that continues. I have tried life abroad and it is not something that suits me. I wanted to be close to my family. Even though I often become pessimistic, my goals are still clear ," said Jetmir Harapi, owner of the agrotourism "Harapi".

Initially conceived as a restaurant, the business was built gradually, with careful investments and a strong focus on raw materials. Local organic products are the heart of this agritourism: milk is collected from the area, meat is provided by local farmers, while the cheese dairy remains an important pillar. This not only guarantees quality, but also helps the economy of the surrounding community

"We started as a restaurant and then gradually invested. We focused on the raw material, local organic products. The cheese dairy helped us, then we collect local milk and meat. This helps us and also the residents of the area. We are a small but growing business. Everything focuses on organic foods, we have beef, lamb, goat and chicken meat. We make them with jufka or pilaf. We also have other poultry such as duck, goose and turkey. The village has all the good things and we cover 90% of our needs with them ," says the young man.

Although he has welcomed tourists from all over the world, Jetmir emphasizes that local customers are the most important. They are the ones who keep the business alive all year round, so his message is clear: valuing Albanian customers is the key to sustainability for any local enterprise.

"We have tourists from all over the world, but local customers are primary for me. A foreigner comes once a year or once in a lifetime, but local customers come much more, so I call on other businesses to value local customers more. Because we are businesses that work 12 months and Albanian customers keep us ," said Harapi.

Today, at the age of 24, Jetmir has clear goals and ambitious plans for the future. Agrotourism has already expanded to include camping, picnic areas, and the sale of traditional products, while he also aims for new initiatives such as bicycle tours, summer camps, and outdoor activities.

"I am 24 years old, my goals are clear and the main thing is to serve here. We have also opened a campsite and hope that in the spring we will also start bicycle tours in different areas for anyone who wants to see the villages. We are also investing in summer camps. We have also opened a picnic area, food that they can make themselves, and we have opened a section selling traditional products. We do not have a fixed menu but we have seasonal food ," he emphasized.

You can visit the "Harapi" agrotourism every day in the village of Melgushë, just a few minutes from Shkodra. This year-end comes as an invitation to everyone because it is a place where time slows down and everything takes on a different meaning. From the dishes prepared with products freshly arrived from the farm, to the tranquility of the village and direct contact with nature, this agrotourism offers a true escape from routine. It is a destination for those seeking authentic flavors, honest experiences and an inspiring history that is felt in every corner. /CNA
