The opposition sides with Veliaj/Teliti and demands that the mayor be heard.

The Deputy Mayor of Tirana Municipal Council, Dorjan Teliti, is calling for an urgent council meeting today.

According to the argument given by Teliti, it is stated that the procedure for dismissing Erion Veliaj should be carried out in accordance with the law, starting from his hearing.

Teliti states that any violation will result in a compensation bill of hundreds of thousands of euros.

 

"The Presidency of the Municipal Council must meet URGENTLY TODAY to guarantee that the procedure for dismissing Erion Veliaj is carried out in accordance with the law (starting from his hearing at the Council meeting).

 Any violation/deviation from legal rules will burden the citizens of Tirana tomorrow with a compensation bill of hundreds of thousands of euros as a result of procedural violations.

"Veliaj's dismissal should happen as soon as possible, but always respecting the legal procedure," Teliti writes.

 

In recent days, the opposition has maintained a supportive stance following Erion Veliaj's request to be heard before his dismissal, which is expected to take place on Tuesday afternoon at the Municipal Council meeting.
