The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, is holding a conversation with citizens on social networks today. Berisha, at the beginning of his speech, spoke about the protest held yesterday evening.

The chief democrat accused the police of attacks on citizens and protesters. Among other things, he said that the police had also attacked the DP headquarters by throwing tear gas and smoke bombs.

"For three hours, an unprecedented battle took place on the boulevard, parliament and the streets of Tirana. The regime did not even spare rubber bullets against our former candidate in Shkodra. The violence and terror of the police did not even spare minors. Despite the attacks, the protesters remained undefeated. They tried to attack minors who were returning from school, while today they are in the police station.

Over 50 protesters have been detained. A good part of them have never taken part in the protest. Some of the police have behaved like patrons and criminals. Yesterday there was a clear difference in the attitude of a good part of the police. I invite the police not to follow the instructions of the criminals Proda and Bizhga but to join the protesters. Edi Rama is their fierce enemy and is doing the country the greatest harm with the legal initiative to protect itself. The peaceful uprising yesterday marked a new stage that is an inspiration for the days to come. I condemn police violence and terror. I condemn the shooting of gas canisters at citizens and the deputy leader of the DP, Luçiano Boçi. Edi Rama will be responsible for all of this.

"Large amounts of tear gas and smoke were thrown in the courtyard of the DP headquarters. I guarantee Rama that attacks on the DP headquarters will bring annihilating attacks on the headquarters of the criminal party throughout the country. Hands off the DP headquarters, because it is in its peaceful revolution to save Albania ," Berisha said. /CNA
