The Minister of Environment, Sofjan Jaupaj, stated during his speech to the Committee on Natural Resources that the fines that will be imposed on those who cause pollution may be heavy for the private sector, but they are necessary. He specified that the fines will be imposed depending on the level of pollution caused by an individual or business.
"Regarding the fines that follow, we have introduced a series of fines that may seem heavy for the private sector, but we owe it to the environment. There is a difference in fines, as businesses pollute the environment. The fines are introduced because the pollution that occurs from a company that does not pay the waste fee is unloaded by a truck on the Shkumbin River. And then the 'Made in Albania' label goes to the Croatian coast and thus Croatia, as a member of the EU, says that Albania does not meet the conditions for membership. The fines should remain and will be divided according to individuals, small businesses or large businesses", the minister said. /CNA
