Forum in Paris/ Rama: Europe lacks diplomacy, does not yet have its own peace

Prime Minister Edi Rama is participating in the Paris Peace Forum, an initiative of President Emmanuel Macron, where this year too, personalities from around the world gather with a focus on cooperation between them.

During his speech, Prime Minister Rama said that Europe must give up the idea that it is the point of reference for how the world should be. According to him, this is a wrong perspective and one that can even become harmful.

He further added that Europe still does not have its own peace plan, while emphasizing that this plan should have been made in parallel with support for Ukraine and communication with Russia. According to him, Europe lacks diplomacy.

"I just came from Riyadh. When you have the opportunity to be in that part of the world, you understand that in our part we need to take a shower of humility. Because today, even though the world is exposing the boiling waters in the relations between countries and approaches to fundamental things, we think that there is something wrong with the world and we, the West, especially Europe, think that we have the moral legitimacy to judge others and that we are the point of reference for how the world should be. This is completely wrong, it is not true. This is a complacency that has begun to become harmful as a point of view.

"I believe that what happened in the US at the beginning of this, God's plan to save Trump, was God's plan to save America. If God had a plan to wake up Europe, it is not waking up. In many efforts being made by the EC President and in this very strong push to change the mindset on the idea of ??defense, this is difficult. There is still no European peace plan. I feel concerned about the lack of diplomacy. In parallel with supporting Ukraine, the EU should have its own peace plan and communication with Russia," Rama said, among other things. /CNA
