The bad news that 21,000 young people left the labor market last year was quickly followed by the good news that 27,000 retirees immediately took their place.

The statistic is as surprising as it is unprecedented. (If you don't believe, ask INSTAT).

Until now, in literature and cinematography, we had the "special case of Benjamin Button", where the years fly by and the old man is rejuvenated. But here reality surpasses literature and leaves cinematography far behind.

As youth unemployment rises as fast as the towers in Tirana, the employment of pensioners is like the soaring of an eagle in flight where many of them have rolled up their sleeves not for the third spring, but for the winter of sacrifices as they now have to suffer all over again the consequences of the transition.

With this change, it is expected that Albania will be declared the Silicon Valley for gray people, a center of wisdom where experience and wisdom overcome enthusiasm and power and where the energy drink of those who work is not red bull, but a cup of tea.

There are institutions in Tirana where the age of the board is 80 years old, but the work of pensioners does not have to be limited to board meetings.

Imagine a workday where grandma works at the counter and waitresses and grandpa works in construction and where the rest schedule is synchronized with the arthritis medication schedule.

After all, who can better cope with the stress of work than those who have gone through the hardships of the dictatorship and the hardships of the transition?

But where are the jobs for young people? Aren't they hidden like easter eggs waiting to be discovered?

How can young people change their status from professional spectators to free professionals?

Maybe the retirement age should change, from 65 to 35, and this could be a motivation for young people to start work earlier and join the ranks of retirees who have started work for the second time.

At the moment, the young people are waiting for you. Time has called the grandparents in the labor market.

And they will of course answer until the last breath. But what will happen next?
