Singer Besart Kelmendi, known as Gjesti, was released from detention today.

Media in Kosovo report that the news has been confirmed by the Basic Court of Pristina.

The announcement states that the decision came after a request from the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina.

The court announces that the reasons for which the detention measure was imposed have been dismissed.

Gjesti was arrested a few days ago for illegal possession of a weapon.

" Following the request of the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina for the termination of the detention measure in the criminal case against the defendant BK, the Court, after reviewing the request of the Prosecution Office, has assessed that the reasons for which the detention measure was imposed have ceased, therefore it has decided that the same person be protected at liberty ," the announcement states.
