The Pristina Prosecution Office has provided details regarding the arrest of Kosovo singer Besart Kelmendi, known as Gjesti. The announcement states that Gjesti has been detained for the criminal offenses: "Unauthorized ownership, control or possession of weapons", "Threat" and "Destruction or damage to property".

The Basic Prosecution Office of Pristina announces that within the legal deadlines, it will undertake the necessary procedural actions and decide on further measures.

Pristina, March 11, 2026 - The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, General Department, informs the public that by order of the Custodian Prosecutor, one (1) person has been detained for 48 hours, due to the well-founded suspicion that he has committed the criminal offenses: ''Unauthorized possession, control or possession of weapons'' under Article 366 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, for the criminal offense ''Threat'' under Article 181 of the Criminal Code, as well as the criminal offense ''Destruction or damage to property'' under Article 321 of the Criminal Code.

The detained person is known to the public as the singer Gjesti.

The State Prosecutor, in coordination and cooperation with the Kosovo Police, is taking all necessary investigative and procedural actions regarding this case.

Due to the early stage of the investigative procedure and in order to preserve the integrity of the investigation, no additional details regarding the case can be provided at this stage.

The Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, within the legal deadlines, will undertake the necessary procedural actions and decide on further measures in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kosovo. / CNA
