The Pantone Color Institute has decided on a shade of white, "Cloud," as the Color of the Year for 2026.

The institute, which is considered a leading authority on color, trend forecasting and brand advice, described the shade as "a wavy and balanced white, filled with a sense of calm."

As technology's grip on daily life tightens, the new color represents a calming influence in a frenetic society, rediscovering the value of measured consideration and quiet reflection, Leatrice Eiseman, the institute's executive director, told CNN.

The color is associated with new beginnings and signifies the desire for a fresh start.

For the institute's team of experts, everything is filtered through the lens of color. So, every year since 1999, the program has tried to highlight how what is happening in our macroculture at a given moment in time is expressed through the language of color.
