The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime has made it possible to identify other persons involved in the illegal activity of narcotics trafficking carried out by the criminal group, hit on 05.11.2024*, in the joint operation with the Prosecutor's Office of Florence, Italy.

The organized criminal group served as a wholesale supplier of drugs to the Italian markets, quantities arriving in containers from Latin America to Italian ports (Livorno, Genoa and Savona). This group carried out the activity of drug extraction and its distribution, while special teams took care of the recovery of narcotics, the extraction of shipments from port areas and making them available to criminal groups.

From the investigative activity carried out in Albania, the identification of the citizen, KB, member of the structured criminal group, unidentified by the Italian authorities, was made, who was involved in the organization of reception, storage of drugs in Italy and then distribution in the Italian market.

Specifically, he is the organizer of the supply of narcotics, seized on January 27, 2021 on the Guardamiglio Highway (LO), Italy, where the Albanian citizens were arrested; EK and MK, who were found with a quantity of cocaine-type narcotics, with a total gross weight of 10,522 kg, packed in 9 plastic packages hidden in a compartment of a vehicle, Ford Fiesta. In addition to this seizure, there are numerous elements of the arrested KB's communications with the members of the structured criminal group, (already arrested in Italy), proving his role within the structured criminal group.

Also, on 12.01.2024, the decision on the determination of the insurance measure given by the Special Court of First Instance for citizens was executed; MN and JK, previously arrested, following the search warrant issued by the Italian judicial authorities, but investigations were being carried out by the Special Prosecutor's Office in the framework of criminal proceedings no. 296 of 2021.

The Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime thanks the General Directorate of the State Police for their cooperation for the professionalism shown during the investigation and the execution phase of the security measure.

The criminal procedure is still in the stage of preliminary investigations, and due to the principle of innocence, the responsibility of the persons under investigation will be finally established only in the event of a final sentence.
