The 40-year-old man "goes crazy"/ Takes minor children hostage,

Several gunshots were recorded in the early hours of this Wednesday morning, near the area called "Kavaja Rock".

A person shot a gun at around 02:20, in the premises of a building, in a rented apartment.

From the first actions of the police, it turned out that the apartment from where the gunshots were fired from was rented weekly by citizen AM, 40 years old, a resident of Lezhë. The latter was suspected of holding his 2 minor children, 6 and 11 years old, hostage inside it.

The "RENEA" Special Department also went to the scene, which called on the 40-year-old to surrender, but he continued to shoot from the window of the apartment.

After several hours of negotiations, under high security measures, it was possible to neutralize and capture the AM citizen, who was found in his apartment with a Kalashnikov firearm, a comb with cartridges, as well as 18 cartridges inside the apartment.

Also, the police took out the 2 children, who are in good health and are being assisted by psychologists.

The 40-year-old man was taken to the Police for further procedural actions.

So far, the motives that pushed the 40-year-old to this event are not known, while it is expected that the Blues will provide further information./ CNA
