A police operation against narcotics has ended with the arrest of a 22-year-old man from Vau i Dejës, an OSHEE employee, while 2 other employees were criminally prosecuted for abuse of office, committed in collaboration.

The 22-year-old citizen Gj. B. had rented an apartment in Velipojë and had adapted it for the cultivation of narcotic plants using lamps.

During the operation, 300 suspected cannabis plants, a quantity of cannabis, 125 electrical devices used for the cultivation of narcotic plants, 4 cell phones and a punch amplifier were also seized.

Following the plan of measures to identify and crack down on the cultivation of narcotic plants in closed environments, based on information obtained operationally, the services of the Shkodra Police Commissariat, in cooperation with those of the Narcotics Investigation Section at the Shkodra Police Department, and supported by the Operational Force and the "Eagles", have exercised intensive controls in closed environments, with the aim of ascertaining and cracking down on cases of cultivation of narcotic plants using lamps, drying and processing them for sale.

In this context, the fourth phase of the police operation codenamed "Neons" was organized and finalized.

During the operation, citizen Gj. B., 22 years old, resident of Laç, Vau i Dejës, was arrested in flagrante delicto.

Following the operation, citizen RV, 25 years old, resident of Shkodra, was also detained, and criminal proceedings were initiated against citizens AU, 50 years old, and Gj. T., 59 years old, both residents of Velipojë and employees of OSHEE, for the criminal offense of "Abuse of office", committed in collaboration.

From the checks in an environment (apartment) in Velipojë, adapted for the cultivation and drying of narcotic cannabis plants, the Police services found and seized, as material evidence, 308 suspected cannabis plants, 85 grams of this dried substance, 122 electrical devices used for the cultivation of narcotic plants and 4 mobile phones.

Also, from the search carried out in the apartment of citizen RV, 3 light bulbs and a punch amplifier were found and seized as material evidence.

Intensive work continues to fully document this criminal activity.

The procedural materials were passed on to the Shkodra Prosecutor's Office for further action. /CNA
