Europol captures the "Balkan Cartel"/ Operation with 500 officers, 3

A mega-operation in Germany, supported by Europol, has hit a prominent cell of the so-called "Balkan Cartel".

The operation with 500 police officers has resulted in three arrests and the seizure of 5 million euros in criminal assets.

The operation, coordinated with law enforcement authorities from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Germany and Serbia, targeted several high-value targets residing in Germany, believed to be key figures within the Balkan Cartel.

The investigation revealed that this criminal cell was responsible for multi-ton shipments of cocaine originating from Colombia and using various methods to smuggle drugs into Europe. The network also laundered money through companies and real estate in many countries within the EU and beyond.

Today's operation, which involved 500 police officers making arrests and searching 45 premises, marks the culmination of a complex investigation into large-scale drug trafficking, money laundering and arms trafficking.

During the searches, approximately 50,000 euros in cash, two gold coins, numerous luxury items such as jewelry, watches, handbags, three high-value vehicles, as well as property both in Germany and abroad were seized. In addition, various documents and electronic devices, as well as a loaded firearm and ammunition, were found and seized. The evidence is currently being evaluated.

In previous operations, Europol and its partner countries have already dealt significant blows to the Balkan Cartel, including numerous arrests made in previous years./CNA
