Europol hits car traffickers/ 209 smugglers are caught, over 500 vehicles are

Europol has carried out an action in several European countries to hit traffickers of cars and motor vehicles.

Operation "Mobile 6" took place in October of this year and extended to Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.

The operation involved about 400 law enforcement officers from 25 states, who conducted detailed checks in several locations.

As a result, 505 stolen cars, about 2,000 vehicle parts, 16 boats, 32 motorbikes and 248 forged documents were seized.

Also, the participating authorities identified 209 smugglers.

Law enforcement identified a variety of criminal tactics during the operation, including several cases involving so-called 'cloned cars'. 

Traffickers used identification papers belonging to another vehicle, usually a wrecked car, of the same make, model and color.
