VIDEO-Videos of Maduro in handcuffs at the DEA offices emerge, here are his first words after his arrest

Former Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was arrested yesterday in Caracas during a large-scale operation by US special forces and was taken under surveillance to the United States, where he was handcuffed and escorted to the DEA (US Drug Enforcement Agency) offices in New York.

In a video released by the DEA office, Maduro appears in handcuffs as he says his first words after his arrest: "Happy New Year."

US authorities have charged Maduro with narco-terrorism, cocaine trafficking to the US and illegal weapons possession.

The operation has been described as one of the largest US interventions against a foreign leader in decades, and provoked strong international reactions.

Maduro is expected to appear before a federal court in New York for his first hearing, and the arrest has drawn mixed reactions inside and outside Venezuela./ CNA
