Trump in Texas: We pray for the families and victims of the devastating floods

US President Donald Trump visited the site of the devastation left by flash floods in central Texas, amid growing questions about how local officials responded to the crisis, as well as questions about the federal response, including the fate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Trump's visit on Friday came a week after heavy rains caused the Guadalupe River in Kerr County to rise 26 feet in less than an hour, killing at least 121 people, including dozens of children at the nearby Christian summer camp, Camp Mystic.

"The first lady and I are here in Texas to express the love, support and anguish of our entire nation after this truly horrific and deadly flood. We mourn every single life that was taken by the flood and we pray for the families left behind. It's amazing, the extraordinary spirit from those families," Trump said.

Trump approved a major disaster declaration for Texas earlier this week. On Friday, the declaration was expanded to include more areas affected by flooding. /CNA
