Pelosi's withdrawal from Congress/Trump: Big event for America, it is evil and corrupt

US President Donald Trump has reacted to Nancy Pelosi's announcement earlier today that she will withdraw from Congress. In a statement to the media, Trump described her decision as a great event for America.

"The departure of Nancy Pelosi is a big event for America. She was evil, corrupt and focused only on what was bad for our country. She quickly lost control of her party and never regained it. She tried to remove me from office twice, but failed. Nancy Pelosi is a very overrated politician,"  Trump said in comments to Fox News.

Pelosi was first elected in 1987 and in 2007 became the first woman in history to become Speaker of the House of Representatives, a position she held again after the 2018 election.

Nancy Pelosi is one of the most important figures in the Democratic Party, leading the House of Representatives and being President Donald Trump's main opponent during his first term. /CNA
