Albanian prisoners in Greece go on hunger strike, complain about rights violations

Albanians who are serving sentences in Greek prisons have announced that they have started a hunger strike.

They claim that their parole rights have been violated.

Convicts of other nationalities have also joined the strike.

Through a statement, they asked the justice institutions in Greece to take measures for their demands.

They demand that the legal framework for parole be adjusted, so that the law that was in force at the time of the criminal offense is first applied, and the right to be treated with the most lenient law is not violated.

According to their claims, Greek justice does not recognize the right to parole, and that it is keeping them in prison illegally.

It is learned that some of the convicts have been waiting for 1-2 years to consider their requests for parole, meanwhile there are nearly 16 thousand convicts and detainees who can join the strike/CNA by the end of July
