The leader of Myanmar's military government, Min Aung Hlaing, has vowed to deal firmly with what he has deemed "acts of terror" by armed resistance groups.

He has also accused countries that criticize his regime of supporting terrorism in Myanmar - also known as Burma.

Since gaining power in 2021 – through a coup – the army continues to be involved in a bloody civil war against resistance groups.

As a result of this conflict, tens of thousands of people have died and more than a million others have been displaced.
