The Russian military has been ordered to withdraw from the Ukrainian city of Kherson, which is the only regional capital Russia has controlled since it launched its invasion of Ukraine in late February.

The Russian commander in Ukraine, General Sergei Surovikin, said it was no longer possible to continue supplying the city.

This means that Russian forces will be completely withdrawn from the region on the west bank of the Dnieper River.
