Currently, the Republicans are in the lead, having won 199 seats in the House of Representatives compared to the Democrats who have won 172 seats.

The balance of power in the Senate was always expected to be decided more delicately than in the House of Representatives, and with only eight seats left to declare we are not too close to determining who will come out on top.
