Final result/ Erdogan is re-elected President of Turkey

Just a few minutes ago, the counting of the ballot boxes in the second round of the presidential elections in Turkey was completed.

In this second round, the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, won.

Specifically, Erdogan received 52.16% of the votes, while his opponent, the candidate of the opposition coalition, Kemal Kilicdaroglu, received 47.84% of the votes.

The participation in the elections was 84.93%, a slight decrease compared to the participation in the first round of the elections, held on May 14. 

Erdo?an thus won another mandate, after the Turkish people trusted him to lead the country for another 5 years.

We recall that in the first round Erdogan led with a higher percentage of support than his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu, but he did not manage to secure more than 50% of the votes needed to be declared the winner and avoid a presidential runoff.

We recall that Erdogan won 49.4% of the votes, while the opposition candidate won 44.9% of the votes.

This was the first time in 20 years that he has been in power, that Erdogan did not win the elections in the first round./  CNA.al
