In the center of Belgrade, tens of thousands of people protested on May 27 under the slogan "Serbia against violence".
This protest was called by the opposition and is the fourth of its kind to be organized in Serbia, to oppose the response of the Serbian Government after two mass attacks that took place in May in this country, when 18 people were killed.
Due to the large number of protesters, the protective fences placed outside the Serbian Parliament building were moved, so that the protesters could continue their march towards the Radio Television of Serbia building.
Protesters were heard chanting "resign" and "Vucic is leaving".
After the citizens gathered in front of the Serbian Parliament building, they laid flowers and honored the victims of the shooting attacks.
The protesters continued on their way to the building of the public broadcaster and their goal was for this television to report on this protest.
The organizers called for a peaceful protest.
The protesters have a number of demands, including the dismissal of the Minister of the Interior, Bratislav Gashiq, and the director of the Security and Information Agency (BIA), Aleksandar Vulin.
They are also demanding changes to the regulatory body for electronic media, the closure of tabloids that propagate violence and break the rules, and the takeover of the national frequencies of Pink and Happy television.
After two mass shootings, authorities in Belgrade announced the confiscation of weapons from citizens and increased security around schools.
The Minister of Education in Serbia, Branko Ruzhni?, has resigned after the shooting at a primary school in Belgrade.
Meanwhile, at the request of the opposition, the Serbian Assembly held an extraordinary session where the security situation was discussed.
The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vu?i?, has criticized the holding of the protests, as he has said that the tragedy is being politicized through them. However, he expressed his openness to dialogue with the opposition. But he has refused to fire the officials the protesters are calling for to be removed from their positions.
On May 3, a 13-year-old killed eight students and the guard of a school in Belgrade, as well as injured six other students and a teacher. A few days later, a student also died from her injuries.
A day later, on May 4, a 21-year-old man opened fire in several villages near Belgrade, killing eight people and injuring 14 others. Then he was arrested./REL
