Floods/Kurti: Kosovo needs 1.3 billion euros to adapt to climate change

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has spoken about the floods that occurred in Peja, where as a result there were two victims.

Kurti stated that the government is dealing with the drafting of maps where the areas affected by natural phenomena will be identified and the plan for their management will be created.

Prime Minister Kurti said that Kosovo is lobbying to receive funds, as it needs 1.3 billion euros in infrastructure to adapt to climate change.

" Climate change presents a high risk. Kosovo is equally at risk from fires and floods. Modeling shows a greater increase in temperature.

The infrastructure of the human hand has a key role. Constructions in areas vulnerable to natural phenomena should be avoided.

The government is dealing with the drafting of maps of areas where floods occur and their management plan. We will implement plans to adapt to climate change. We are lobbying for Kosovo to receive funds for adaptation to climate change.

Kosovo needs 1.3 billion euros in infrastructure for adapting to climate change," Kurti said at the government meeting./ CNA
