"We stand with Israel": Biden pledges US support in the face of "savage attacks"

President Joe Biden strongly condemned Hamas terror attacks in a statement Tuesday from the White House, three days after Hamas fighters launched a surprise attack on Israel, sparking all-out war between the two sides.

"At this point, we have to be clear," Biden said. "We stand with Israel."

Biden called on Americans to put politics aside to come together to help Israelis.

"There is no place for hatred in America, not against Jews, not against Muslims, not against anybody," Biden said. "We reject it. We reject this terrorism."

Biden made his comments after a phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the third between the two leaders since the attack.

The Israeli military on Tuesday claimed to have regained control inside the country after ordering a "complete encirclement" of Gaza, meaning no food, gas or electricity would be allowed into the densely populated area, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said. ./ CNA
