The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that they will cooperate closely with the United States of America towards the normalization of relations with Serbia, but added that "we must understand that we have an increasingly abnormal Serbia".

"... so while we wish for normalization of relations with Serbia, this year that we just left behind is a year of further normalization with Serbia", he said on Tuesday after the end of the meeting he held with the mayors of the municipalities.

Kur u pyet për planin franko-gjerman, ai ripërsëriti qëndrimin e tij se Kosova e ka konsideruar këtë plan si “bazë të mirë për diskutime të mëtutjeshme”, por tha se Serbia e ka refuzuar atë, dhe se tash do të duhet që "të gjithë të merren me ta”.

Propozimi i Bashkimit Evropian, i njohur edhe si plani franko-gjerman, mësohet se u është dhënë palëve qysh në fund të verës. Ai ka mbështetjen e Francës, Gjermanisë dhe SHBA-së.

Më 11 dhjetor, Radio Evropa e Lirë raportoi se në këtë plan nuk përmendet njohja e ndërsjellë mes Kosovës dhe Serbisë.

Në dokumentin të cilin e kishte siguruar REL-i thuhej se elementet kyçe të këtij propozimi të BE-së për normalizimin e marrëdhënieve midis dy vendeve janë: respektimi i integritetit territorial, paprekshmëria e kufijve, njohja e simboleve shtetërore dhe një aranzhim i veçantë për komunitetin serb në Kosovë.

In November last year, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, said that the essence of the Franco-German plan is unacceptable for Serbia, since the plan starts with the fact that Kosovo is independent.

Kurti also said that the visit of the senior adviser of the US State Department, Derek Chollet, is more than welcome because it comes at an important moment when the one-year anniversary of the Russian occupation of Ukraine - which began on February 24, 2022 - is approaching.

Chollet will visit Kosovo on January 11, and Serbia a day later.
