Political crisis in Kosovo/ Marta Kos: I am not happy that there will be

EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, has spoken about the political crisis in Kosovo. Kos said in an interview that she is not happy that there will be elections in Kosovo again. But she added that their democracy is working. The Commissioner announced that the ratification of the two agreements on the Growth Plan for Kosovo is expected.

“On the issue of Kosovo, I am not happy that they will now have elections again, but their democracy is working and I am happy about that. Why am I not happy? Because we are waiting for the ratification of the two agreements for the Growth Plan. So, at the moment, Kosovo is carrying out the reforms, but we cannot pay the money because we do not have these two agreements. On the other hand, as you know, Kosovo, even though it is not yet an official candidate, is fully aligned with European foreign and security policy, as is your country, Albania. You have very good relations with this country, which means that I cannot imagine the completion of European unification without also integrating Kosovo into the European Union. So, we will work on that. I hope that soon, after the elections, we will have a new government and then, the government is the one that can push forward the reforms. And I am sure that they are ready to do this in terms of the economy. They are doing very well. They have already carried out some of the reforms, so "I can't wait for them to have a functional and efficient government and, then, we will be able to accelerate, perhaps at another time, the membership process," said the European Commissioner. /CNA
