Kiev accuses Russia of damaging the power line of the nuclear plant

Ukraine's state-owned nuclear operator Energoatom announced on Thursday that artillery strikes by Russian forces have damaged power lines connecting the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to the country's power grid. Currently, the operation of Europe's largest nuclear power plant depends on diesel generators.

In an announcement on the Telegram network, Energoatom announced that the generators only have enough fuel for 15 days.

"Numërimi mbrapsht ka filluar", shkruanin përfaqësuesit e Energoatom-it, duke ngritur shqetësimin për një fatkeqësi të mundshme bërthamore.

Rusia dhe Ukraina kanë fajësuar shpesh njëra-tjetrën për bombardimet pranë impiantit. Agjencia mbikëqyrëse bërthamore e OKB-së ka paralajmëruar se sulmet me artileri mund ta dëmtojnë centralin duke rrezikuar ndotje bërthamore.

Centrali ndodhet brenda një pjese të rajonit të Zaporizhias të pushtuar nga forcat ruse, që në ditët e para të sulmit në Ukrainë që nisi më 24 shkurt.
