Kamala Harris Raises $81 Million in 24 Hours

US Vice President Kamala Harris has received millions of dollars in donations for her election campaign. Just 24 hours after she officially announced her intention to run as the Democratic presidential nominee, her campaign team announced that it had received $81 million in donations from more than 888,000 donors.

Harris now relies on Joe Biden's campaign team, which has now changed its name to Harris for President. In an e-mail, Biden asked his supporters to donate to Kamala Harris' campaign.

Pelosi supports Harris

Influential former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi announced her support for Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee.

She had previously made no statement of support for Harris. "Politically, there is no question that as a woman in politics Kamala Harris is brilliant and smart, and I have every confidence that she will lead us to victory in November," Pelosi declared.

Three more governors for Harris

After US President Joe Biden withdrew from the race for another term, more and more US Democrats are supporting his deputy Kamala Harris. Harris' candidacy is now supported by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. The billionaire entrepreneur wrote on Platform X that he is proud to support Vice President Harris for President of the United States.

Even Maryland Gov. Wes Moore and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who was also occasionally considered a candidate, have now pledged their support to Harris. "Let's win this race, Kamala Harris!" she wrote on X, where she posted a statement in which she expressed her support for the vice president./ DW
