Trump allies were quick to criticize Harris

Donald Trump Jr., the former president's son, was one of the first to point the arrows of the Republican attack at Kamala Harris.

"Kamala Harris owns all of Joe Biden's left-wing policy record. The only difference is that she's even more liberal and less competent than Joe," he told X.

Many on the right attacked her record on the US southern border as she guided America's immigration policy.

Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas, who has often been criticized for his hard-line positions on immigration, attacked her record on immigration.

"Joe Biden has fully endorsed his 'Border Czar' Kamala Harris to be the Democratic nominee for president," he wrote on social media. "I think I'm going to have to triple the border wall, the razor wire barriers and the National Guard at the border."

Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican lawmaker known for her controversial statements, joined other Trump allies in dismissing any candidate aiming to take on Biden's mantle.
