Convincingly lost in the presidential elections/ Djukanovic resigns as party leader

The chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Djukanovic has resigned from this position.

Montenegrin media "Vijesti" reports that Djukanovic will be replaced as chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists by Danijel Zivkovic.

The presidency of the Democratic Party of Socialists will meet tomorrow, where the decision is expected to be formalized.

Milo Djukanovic has held the position of the leader of this party since 1998. He has been President and Prime Minister of Montenegro several times.

Djukanovic had earlier warned that he would leave the leadership position in the party and that immediate elections should be held within the DPS for the new leadership of the party.

This act of his comes only a few days after the negative result in the presidential elections.

In the second round of the presidential elections, Djukanovic convincingly lost to Jakov Milatovic, the presidential candidate of the Europe Now Movement./ CNA.al
