Supreme Court rules against Scotland's independence referendum

The Supreme Court of the United Kingdom found on Wednesday that Scotland cannot hold a second independence referendum without the permission of the British Government.

This decision takes a step back in the Scottish Government's campaign to leave the United Kingdom.

In 2014, Scots refused to end their more than 300-year union with England, voting 55% against independence from the United Kingdom in a referendum held at the time.
