France's interior minister said today that he could not rule out the involvement of foreign actors in the deliberate damage to the country's high-speed train network, causing travel chaos on the opening day of the Paris Olympics.

In Friday's attacks, the perpetrators damaged installations along lines connecting Paris to cities such as Lille in the north, Bordeaux in the west and Strasbourg in the east.

So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"Who is responsible? It could have been guided from the inside, or it is from the outside, it is too early to say," Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told France 2 television.

Local authorities have announced that the high-speed train network will return to normal on Monday.

On Friday, 100,000 people were unable to take the train and another 150,000 faced delays, Transport Minister Patrice Vergriete said./ VOA
