Check: Kosovo is announced as the host of the Mediterranean Games in 2030

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Kosovo, Hajrullah Çeku, has announced that Kosovo will be the host country of the Mediterranean Games in 2030.

"Congratulations to all parties involved in the candidacy process. Together, we will lead this transformative journey with great commitment and responsibility", said Çeku through a post on Facebook.

The decision was taken by the General Assembly of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (ICMG) at a meeting held in Heraklion, Greece.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has considered the news as an "extraordinary achievement".

The Mediterranean Games are organized every four years and for the countries of the Mediterranean basin they constitute the most important multi-sport event, after the Olympic Games.

Within this organization, competitions are held in more than 25 disciplines.

Athletes from African, Asian and European countries with access to the Mediterranean region participate in them.

Last year, the host of this organization was Oran of Algeria./ REL
