"Two ships will pass through the Strait every day"/ Pakistan reaches agreement with Iran

Iran has agreed to allow 20 ships under the Pakistani flag to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

The news was announced by Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar in a post on "X". According to the agreement, two ships will pass through the Strait of Hormuz every day.

"I am happy to share the excellent news that the Government of Iran has agreed to allow 20 more ships under the Pakistani flag to pass through the Strait of Hormuz; two ships will pass through the Strait every day.  This is a welcome and constructive gesture by Iran and deserves appreciation. It is a harbinger of peace and will help bring stability to the region. This positive announcement marks a significant step towards peace and will strengthen our collective efforts in that direction. Dialogue, diplomacy and such confidence-building measures are the only way forward," the Pakistani minister said in a post.

Pakistan has been acting as a mediator in negotiations between the US and Iran, as confirmed on Thursday by US special envoy Steve Witkoff. /CNA
