"Trump's statements are serious"/ Putin's warning: If the

Russian leader Vladimir Putin has commented on US President Donald Trump's statements regarding nuclear tests.

Speaking to the Russian Security Council, Putin described Trump's statements as "extremely serious." However, he stressed that Russia does not plan to withdraw from the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, but warned that there would be a reaction if the treaty was violated.

The Russian president made it clear that his country remains loyal to the Treaty and has no intention of withdrawing from it. However, he stressed that if the countries that have signed the treaty decide to conduct nuclear tests, Russia will be forced to take appropriate measures.

Putin also instructed the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, intelligence agencies and political services to begin preparations for nuclear weapons tests.

"I instruct the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the special services and the relevant political services to do everything possible to collect additional information on this issue, analyze it at the Security Council level and submit coordinated proposals on the possible start of work on preparing for nuclear weapons tests,"  he said. /CNA
