"Get ready to intervene"/ Son of Iran's last Shah urges Trump

The son of the last Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, who lives in exile in the Washington area, has sent an urgent appeal to US President Donald Trump, amid ongoing protests in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Pahlavi, addressing Trump via social media, described the situation as an urgent call for attention, support, and action, demanding that the United States be prepared to intervene to help the Iranian people.

Pahlavi did not specify what kind of intervention he is seeking, but highlighted the internet shutdown in Iran and threats by security forces against anti-government demonstrators.

"I have called on the people to take to the streets to fight for their freedom and to overwhelm the security forces with overwhelming numbers. Last night they did just that," Pahlavi wrote.

Pahlavi said Trump's threats against the regime have helped deter violence so far, but stressed that time is of the essence and protests are expected to continue./CNA
