On May 12, 2023, the show "Stop" broadcast the problem of a pensioner. Kolë Shkëmbi retired in March 2020, but did not withdraw his monthly pension for 33 months at the Albanian Post branch no. 30.

When he inquired, he discovered that his pension had been withdrawn. It was a person with the same ID details, but only the expiration date of the card was different. The missing amount was 2 million and 126 thousand lek. After that, Kola said that the case went to the economic crime and the Prosecutor's Office.

The ISSH specialist explained that the mistake was made by the post office, as the card of the person who withdrew the money should have been verified. We communicated at the time with the director of ISSH and the Post Office, who said that they would resolve this impasse between the two institutions.

Two years after this broadcast, Kolë Shkëmbi says that there was a report from the Post Office to the Prosecutor's Office, but the Prosecutor's Office suspended the investigation because it did not find the author of this forgery.

"I've been going around to the prosecutor's office and the post office for two years and they haven't put water on the fire at all. The post office has taken the case to the prosecutor's office, and the prosecutor's office has closed the case. They haven't found the perpetrator at all. I'm asking for the money from the post office, because the post office is to blame, it shouldn't give one person's money to another. It shouldn't give my 33-month pension to another," said the depositor.

Kola himself is demanding the money he is owed, regardless of which institution is at fault. Enkeleda Preçi, Head of the Financial Services Sector at the Albanian Post, says that under these conditions, the post has decided to return the missing amount to the pensioner, a full 2 ??million and 126 thousand lekë.

"Under these conditions, in order to return the pension to the pensioner and to find a solution to the situation, to the created impasse, we requested official information on 25.03.2025 from the prosecution institution regarding the stage in which the investigations into the Kolë Shkëmbi case are. The response returned in April 2025 by the prosecution informs us of the decision of January of this year, where the suspension of the investigations was decided due to the failure to identify the perpetrator. In addition to the legal aspect that we as an institution will follow to the end, because it constitutes a precedent for this to have happened in our institution, in the humane aspect for the pensioner, Kolë Shkëmbi, the Albanian Post will make a final decision. Definitely for the return of the missing amount of the pension", said Enkeleda Preçi./tvklan.al
