The Granica Stream under the 'power' of garbage

The stream bed that separates the “Palorto” and “Granicë” neighborhoods in Gjirokastra presents a sad sight, covered in garbage and dirt. Although interventions have been carried out from time to time to clean it, the stream continues to fill with garbage, mainly due to its disposal by the residents themselves.

Some residents express outrage over the situation.

 "The Municipality is not to blame when people themselves throw their waste wherever they want. We are the ones polluting the stream, Gjirokastra has never been like this, these people who came here do it," claims a resident.

The Municipality of Gjirokastra has publicly stated several times that it will take action against polluters, including fining them. However, to date, no concrete administrative measures have been taken, rendering the warnings ineffective and increasing dissatisfaction among the community.
